FAQ's
What is skin needling?
Skin needling, also known as microneedling, is a treatment that uses fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin. This stimulates your body’s natural collagen and elastin production, helping to improve texture, tone, and overall skin health.
Is skin needling painful?
Most clients find the treatment quite manageable, describing it as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful. We generally prefer not to use numbing cream, as it can prevent us from accurately gauging when we’ve reached the ideal end point—avoiding deeper, unnecessary trauma to the skin. That said, your comfort is a priority, and if at any point it feels too uncomfortable, we can absolutely apply a topical numbing cream to help.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your individual skin concerns and goals. Many clients start to see visible improvement after 2–3 sessions, but a course of 4–6 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is often recommended for best results.
Is there downtime after the treatment?
You may experience redness (similar to a sunburn), mild swelling, and slight sensitivity for 1–3 days after the treatment. Most people resume normal activities within 24–48 hours.
When will I see results?
Some clients notice a glow within a few days, but true results—such as improved skin texture, reduced scarring, or fine lines—typically appear gradually over several weeks as new collagen forms.
Can skin needling treat acne scars or pigmentation?
Yes! Skin needling is commonly used to reduce the appearance of acne scarring and uneven pigmentation. It helps remodel scar tissue and promote a more even complexion.
Is it safe for all skin types?
Yes, microneedling is generally safe for most skin types, including darker skin tones. A consultation is essential to ensure it’s suitable for your unique skin needs.
Can I wear makeup after skin needling?
It’s best to avoid makeup for the first 24 hours to allow your skin to heal. After that, mineral makeup or non-comedogenic products can be used.
Is skin needling suitable if I have active acne or eczema?
We typically recommend waiting until any widespread active acne or flare-ups have settled before proceeding with skin needling. However, if you only have a few isolated breakouts or sensitive spots, we can often work around those areas. During your consultation, we’ll carefully assess your skin and create a treatment plan that’s safe and tailored to your needs.
